Who, what and why

It was about time I not only introduced myself, but also properly introduced The Opium Den®.

WHO:

Hello world I suppose…..

My name is Siamak Abrishami.

Over the course of the last few years I’ve been working in different areas of the creative industry, primarily focusing on photography and curation.

As of 2020, alongside my personal creative practice, I created this; The Opium Den®. A project that for the time being I operate alone.

WHAT:

The elevator pitch for The Opium Den® is as follows: “A curated research project made for the physical world.”

We use source material as the inspirational starting block from which we present in house created products as well as curated vintage goods.

WHY:

The Opium Den® is my most un-appologetically selfish project.

It’s the simple result of two things: my subtle addiction to being a perpetual student, and having grown up during the golden age of Tumblr.

Since the exponential boom of moodboard pages on Instagram (yes we started as exactly that as well…….), there seems to be this incompetence and pure laziness when it comes to sourcing, research and providing proper credit. I’ll be the first person to freely admit that I’m not perfect, but you better believe I do my best.

The Opium Den® exists in order to present to the world all of my interests, as diverse as they may be, while maintaining some form of aesthetic cohesion.
